6' 2" tall centre-forward born in Kingsbury. Middlesex who started his career as an apprentice at Brentford before being released by the Bees without being offered a professional contract.
Warren then dropped into non-league football and had a spell with Harefield before moving on to Northwood in 1991. By then he'd embarked on a four-year course to become a golf club professional.
In March 1992 Warren returned to the Football League when Cambridge United signed him but he only made one first team appearance early in the 1992/93 campaign before being loaned to Southern League Bashley.
He scored 26 goals in 32 games for Bashley during the remainder of 1992/93 and Warren was released by Cambridge United at the end of the season.
He then had a short spell playing in Cyprus before Millwall signed him in August 1993. At that point Warren gave up his golf professional course.
He made one substitute appearance for the Lions early in the 1993/94 season before being loaned to Irish 1st Division club Cobh Rangers.
He scored three goals in eight league appearances for Cobh but in December 1993 Millwall let Warren join Northampton. No fee was involved but it was agreed Millwall would receive 50% of any future transfer proceeds.
Warren made his first team debut for Northampton in a 1-0 defeat at Mansfield on 11.12.93 and scored his first goal in a 3-1 win at Walsall on 26.2.94. He found the net once more before the end of the 1993/94 campaign and made a total of 17 appearances (six as sub).
In July 1994 he was loaned to Irish Premier League side Dundalk and Warren scored nine times during his stay there which lasted until October 1994. His tally included four goals in a 6-1 win at Longford on 21.8.94.
After returning to Northampton Warren made four more senior appearances (three as sub) and the last of them was in a 3-0 home defeat against Scarborough on 28.1.95.
In January 1995 he was sent out on loan again, this time to Ards of the Northern Ireland Premier League, and Warren scored twice in 20 outings for them before returning to England in July 1995. By then he'd been released by Northampton.
Before the end of July 1995 Warren signed for Isthmian Premier League club Yeovil and he went on to become a legendary figure with the Somerset outfit. On 28.8.95 Warren scored four times in a 4-1 home win over Walton & Hersham in only his third appearance and he finished 1995/96 with 27 goals. He then managed 29 goals during 1996/97 as Yeovil won the Isthmian League title.
Warren adapted well to playing in the Conference and he bagged 19 goals during the 1997/98 campaign including a hat-trick on the last day of the season as Yeovil thrashed Gateshead 6-1 on 2.5.98.
On 30.3.99 he won the first of seven England semi-professional caps in a game against Italy and in April 1999 Warren scored his 100th goal for Yeovil in a match against Leek. He celebrated the milestone by running 90 yards to the Yeovil supporters and jumping into them. In all he scored 26 times during 1998/99.
Warren was named in the Mail On Sunday's Conference team of the year for 1999/00 after scoring another 17 goals and in November 2000 Yeovil played Blackburn in a testimonial for him.
During the 2000/01 campaign Warren scored another 22 goals to take his overall Yeovil statistics to 140 goals from 287 appearances but in the summer of 2001 he moved on to Rushden & Diamonds.
On 11.8.01 Warren scored Rushden's first ever goal in the Football League to secure a 1-0 win at York but he quickly became disillusioned with full-time football as it meant he'd had to give up a prosperous business career. After making just five more appearances without scoring again Warren dropped back into the Conference to join Woking in September 2001. In his last game for Rushden he'd played alongside future Margate striker Jean-Michel Sigere.
Woking had to pay a fee in the region of £50,000 to secure Warren's services and got an instant return on their investment when he scored on his debut in a 3-1 home win over Northwich on 15.9.01. Woking's other goals came from future Margate players Terry McFlynn and Steve West. Warren went on to score 11 Conference goals before the end of the 2001/02 season and added another 16 goals during the 2002/03 campaign.
In the summer of 2003 Warren was transfer-listed as Woking were about to go full-time and he wanted to continue as a semi-professional. After turning down offers from Forest Green and Gravesend & Northfleet he signed for Margate on a free transfer in July 2003.
Warren had had a groin operation shortly before making the move and had also just started his own estate agency business. Margate manager Chris Kinnear told the KM Extra newspaper "Warren's a great character and a good leader of the line who also scores goals. He's won the Conference goalscoring award a few times and thinks he can again."
Warren told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "I wanted to stay in the Conference, but I had to leave Woking because they were going full-time. I was impressed by what Margate did last year, and the team spirit is second to none. Especially being part-time in this league you need something extra to help you along, and you need the team spirit to give you the edge. I'm hoping we can get to the playoffs and it is getting harder, but I've seen the players and they've done ever so well over the last two years."
He scored two goals in Margate's pre-season friendlies and on 9.8.03 Warren made his competitive debut in a Conference game at Shrewsbury. He headed a late equaliser from an Adrian Clarke cross to make the score 1-1 and the Thanet Times said he'd been "dominant". Warren then played in Margate's next five matches but didn't add to his goal tally and on 30.8.03 he hobbled off during the first half of a 2-1 win at Forest Green. A few days later he asked for his contract to be cancelled. Warren said that he wanted to concentrate on his business and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said the news "had stunned Margate".
Chairman Jim Parmenter told the Gazette "Warren does not believe he is doing himself or the club justice because of a lack of fitness and niggling repetitive injuries. The player has been honest with the club and we appreciate that. Therefore we have reached agreement for his contract to be terminated. He is definitely retiring and has made it clear we can continue to hold his playing registration. We wish Warren great success in his business venture."
In January 2004 Margate supporters were surprised when Warren signed for Isthmian League Premier Division club Hayes and he told the Non-League Paper "I don't know where the story came from about me retiring, I just wanted some time out. It was purely down to the amount of travelling in the Conference these days." Warren played twice for Hayes without scoring and then moved on to Isthmian League Division 1 North outfit Hemel Hempstead early in February 2004.
He made seven appearances for Hemel during the remainder of the 2003/04 campaign and scored once - in a 4-0 home win over Great Wakering on 13.3.04 - before retiring at the end of the season.
In September 2004 Conference South club Eastleigh tried to lure Warren back into football but he turned them down.
However in December 2004 he did make a comeback, albeit a brief one. Warren played for his old club Northwood in an Isthmian League Premier Division game at Leyton on 4.12.04 and scored in a 3-2 defeat. It was his only appearance.
In the summer of 2006 Warren became manager of Devon & Exeter Senior Division 4 side Morchard Bishop and made some appearances as a player whilst leading the club to two promotions.
In June 2009 he became joint manager of Western League Premier Division club Wellington and Warren again had some outings as a player. He was still running his estate agency at that time but he left Wellington in May 2010.
Warren took over as manager of Peninsula League Premier Division outfit Witheridge in June 2010 and sometimes played for them before resigning at the start of November 2010.
In February 2011 he became assistant to former England international Steve Guppy at Crediton of the South West Peninsula Football League and a month later Warren took over as manager when Guppy stepped down due to work commitments.
Early in October 2012 Warren resigned as Crediton's manager and said "It was all very amicable. I want things to be right, not only on the pitch but off it as well. Crediton is a lovely club but I'm ambitious and wanted to push on."
