Energetic player who began his career with Sittingbourne and made his first senior appearances in 1974. Steve then joined Whitstable for the 1977/78 season before returning to Sittingbourne in the summer of 1980. He scored for the Brickies in their 4-3 defeat at the hands of Margate in an FA Cup tie on 16.9.80.
Steve had a loan spell with Ashford early in the 1981/82 season and scored three times in 12 Southern League appearances for the Nuts & Bolts before returning to the Bull Ground. He was Sittingbourne's top scorer with 21 goals during the 1982/83 campaign.
In August 1984 Steve signed for Sheppey and scored in a 2-0 win over Thanet United at Hartsdown Park on 12.1.85. He finished the 1984/85 season as Sheppey's leading marksman with 14 goals to his credit.
In the summer of 1985 Steve joined Thanet and made his debut on 24.8.85 as United beat Chichester City 3-1 in an FA Cup tie at Hartsdown. He had the distinction of scoring one of the goals. Steve continued his good start by scoring in a 3-1 win at Waterlooville two days later and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said that he "gave the home defence considerable problems". He was a regular in the side for the first two months of the season, playing as either an out-and-out striker or in midfield, but in November 1985 Steve was released and rejoined Sheppey. He'd scored four goals in 14 appearances (one as sub) but the local press had felt that he needed a target man to play alongside him in United's forward line and Steve had suffered from the lack of such a partner.
He stayed with Sheppey until early 1988 when he moved to Chatham. Steve scored for them in a 1-1 draw with Thanet at Maidstone Road on 9.4.88.
Steve then went back to Sittingbourne for the 1989/90 season and also had another spell with Sheppey during the campaign.
He returned to Sittingbourne for the 1990/91 season and then linked up with Tonbridge in October 1991.
Steve later finished his career with Kent League outfit Lordswood. He made a few appearances for the club during the 1996/97 season and played occasionally during 1997/98 aged 40 when he was also assistant manager.
In 2006 Steve was living in Harlow, Essex and ran his own plumbing and tiling business.
