Aggressive, versatile player who started his career with Gillingham, playing for their youth and reserve teams during 1977/78, before joining Gravesend & Northfleet.
Steve joined Margate on loan from the Fleet at the start of the 1980/81 season and made his debut on 16.8.80 when he came on as a substitute in a 3-1 defeat at home to Tonbridge. He then made his first full appearance when he played as a striker in a 3-0 defeat at Hounslow on 19.8.80. Steve went on to make a total of eight appearances (two as sub) before returning to Stonebridge Road at the end of September 1980. During his spell with Margate he played at left-back, centre-back, in midfield and as a striker, scoring three goals in the process. They came in three consecutive games from 16.9.80 to 27.9.80 inclusive.
Soon after returning to Gravesend Steve joined Crawley having never played for the Fleet's first team. He went on to make 17 appearances for Crawley, scoring once, before being released in March 1981.
Steve joined Canterbury for the 1981/82 season and made 24 Southern League appearances (three as sub) for City without scoring before joining Sittingbourne in the summer of 1982.
Steve went on to spend several seasons with the Brickies and was still with Sittingbourne during the 1984/85 campaign.
In 2006 he was living in Manchester.
