Much-travelled 6' 5" tall keeper born in Havering, Essex who started his career in Millwall's youth ranks and played for their Under-19's side during the 2003/04 season.

In February 2004 Simon had a loan spell with Isthmian League Premier Division club Kettering but only played once there before returning to The Den.

In March 2004 he was released by Millwall and signed for Gravesend & Northfleet. Simon spent a couple of months with the Conference outfit before leaving the club in May 2004.

He joined Conference South outfit Grays in August 2004 but Simon didn't feature in their senior side and left the club in October 2004.

He then signed for Dagenham & Redbridge on a non-contract basis as cover for the Conference club's first-choice keeper Tony Roberts and the Daggers also allowed Simon to play elsewhere during the remainder of the 2004/05 season.

He featured regularly for Southern League Eastern Division club Maldon and also played some games in Millwall's youth and reserve teams before returning to Dagenham & Redbridge to make his senior debut. Simon's first team bow came in a 3-1 defeat against Margate at Ashford in the Conference Cup on 25.1.05.

He then played three times for Conference South club Redbridge in February 2005 before finishing the campaign back at Maldon.

In June 2005 Simon signed a one-year contract with Dagenham & Redbridge and in November 2005 he was loaned to Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Fisher where he played once in the first team.

In April 2006 Simon had a loan spell with Ashford and he made seven appearances for the Isthmian League Division 1 club in the closing weeks of the 2005/06 season.

He stayed with Dagenham & Redbridge for 2006/07 but early in the campaign Simon was farmed out to Ashford once more and made a further 14 league appearances for the Nuts & Bolts.

After a short spell back with the Daggers he was loaned to Dulwich and Simon featured in 23 Isthmian League Division 1 South games for them up to the end of the season.

In the summer of 2007 he joined Fisher on a permanent basis and Simon played regularly for the Conference South club. On 29.9.07 he was in goal as they lost 4-3 to Margate in a dramatic FA Cup tie at Dulwich where Fisher had been 3-1 up with 13 minutes left to play.

Simon left Fisher in November 2008 and signed for Grays. He almost immediately joined Harlow on loan and on 25.11.08 Simon played as they beat visitors Cheshunt 4-2 in an Isthmian League Cup tie. It was his only outing for Harlow and he then went back to Grays.

At the start of 2009 Simon moved on to Carshalton and he played five times for the Isthmian League Premier Division outfit before linking up with Boreham Wood, also of the Premier Division, in March 2009.

Simon made seven appearances for the Wood during the remainder of the 2008/09 campaign and then left the club at the end of the season.

In July 2009 he signed for Hayes & Yeading and Simon went on to make 30 appearances for them in the Conference during 2009/10.

He dropped into the Kent League to join Sevenoaks for the start of the 2010/11 campaign and in October 2010 Simon moved on to Faversham.

He made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Ramsgate in the Isthmian League Division 1 South on 6.11.10 but Simon was generally used as a back-up for regular keeper Rob French and he finished the 2010/11 season having made a total of 17 league appearances (one as sub) for Faversham.

In the summer of 2011 Simon started Margate's early pre-season friendlies and signed a deal with the club. Manager Chris Kinnear told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "He's a decent keeper, a good talker and he does coaching as well, so he knows the game. He can run as well, which is unusual for a keeper ! He has all the attributes, it's a matter of putting them all together. If he had everything in place, together with his size, he wouldn't be playing non-league football." At that time Simon worked with Welling's academy keepers and also coached with former Margate custodian Scott Chalmers-Stevens at the Pro Soccer Academy in Walderslade, Kent.

At the end of July 2011 Simon broke a finger and Margate signed Jack Smelt to cover for him. A few days before the start of the 2011/12 campaign Chris Kinnear spoke to the Isle of Thanet Gazette about Simon and said "He was our keeper - we hadn't looked at any others - and if he hadn't broken his finger we wouldn't have signed Jack. He'd looked decent so to be ruled out for six weeks is a bit unfair on him".

Simon missed Margate's first 13 games due to his injury but as soon as he was fit he took over from Jack Smelt and made his debut in a 2-1 win over Cray in a Kent Senior Cup tie at Hartsdown Park on 11.10.11. From then on Simon was ever-present for the rest of the season.

The Thanet Times praised him for an "excellent reflex save" from a deflected shot in a 3-1 win at Chipstead in the FA Trophy on 22.10.11 and later acclaimed "three excellent saves" in a 2-1 home win over Kingstonian in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 19.11.11. The paper said that was Simon's "best game for the club" and added he'd "reacted brilliantly" to get down to block a close-range header.

In its report on a 3-1 defeat against visitors Metropolitan Police on 17.12.11 the Thanet Times said Simon "made a pig's ear of a drop-kick" which gave a Met player a simple chance to put his side in front and at times he looked uncertain.

The Thanet Times said Simon made a "crucial save with his legs" as Margate took on Lewes at Hartsdown Park on 21.1.12 and his first half stop came with the score at 0-0. Margate went on to win 5-1 with all the goals coming in the second half. The Isle of Thanet Gazette then praised an "excellent save" early in the second half of a match at Kingstonian on 20.2.12 and said Simon made "another cracking stop" later as Margate lost 2-1.

On 3.3.12 Margate drew 2-2 at Wingate & Finchley and the Thanet Times said Simon "didn't cover himself in glory". He was blamed for both the home side's goals but the paper said he "made up for a disappointing first half with a couple of top saves" in the second period.

At the start of April 2012 Chris Kinnear spoke about Simon to the Isle of Thanet Gazette and said "For a big lad he's a bit of a tart ! I've told him that. The only people he hurts are our players. I want to see him cleaning out the forwards so they don't go near our goal."

During the closing weeks of the season Simon continued to divide opinion but in its report on a 1-1 draw at Tooting & Mitcham on 14.4.12 the Thanet Times said he kept out "a number of the home sides efforts on goal". He made his last appearance of the campaign in a 5-0 defeat at Canvey Island on 28.4.12 and at the end of the season Simon was released having made a total of 41 appearances. He'd kept eight clean sheets.

In June 2012 Simon rejoined Faversham and on 11.9.12 he was part of the side that lost 3-0 at Margate in an FA Cup replay. In its report on the match the Isle of Thanet Gazette said Simon was at fault for a goal from Tommy Murphy and felt he "showed why he was let go in the summer as he and his defenders produced a horror show trying to clear the ball". Simon was ever-present in Division 1 South for Faversham during 2012/13 and finished the campaign having made 42 league appearances. He stayed with the club for the 2013/14 season too.
