Versatile player born in Hackney, London who joined Chelsea as a non-contract player on 27.8.82 aged only 15. Sean then joined Charlton and signed apprentice forms there on 3.8.83.
He played for the Addicks' Colts and Football Combination sides during 1983/84 and 1984/85 which led to Sean becoming a non-contract senior player in April 1985. A back injury ended Sean's hope's of a professional career with Charlton and in December 1985 he left the club to join Erith & Belvedere.
Sean spent the summer of 1986 playing for Auckland-based club Hamilton in New Zealand and their manager at the time was Tommy Taylor. Sean won the club's 'Player of the Year' award before returning to Erith.
He was the Deres 'Player of the Year' for 1987/88 and went on to make over 150 appearances for the club before signing for Margate in February 1991. His former Hamilton boss Taylor had recently taken charge at Hartsdown Park.
Sean made his debut for Margate on 16.2.91 when he played in midfield during a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Dunstable. The Isle of Thanet Gazette described him as being "uncompromising". He then featured in Margate's next nine games and divided his time between midfield and the left-back slot. After missing three matches in April 1991 Sean returned to wear the number three shirt in a 1-0 win at Gosport on 20.4.91 but it was his last game for Margate. He'd made 11 appearances without scoring during 1990/91.
Sean featured in a couple of Margate's pre-season friendlies in the summer of 1991 but left the club before the 1991/92 campaign proper started and returned to Erith & Belvedere.
He stayed with the Deres until the end of the 1993/94 season and made a total of 153 appearances for the club, scoring 24 goals.
Sean's family had strong ties with Erith & Belvedere and in 2005 his father John was the Deres chairman whilst his mother ran the club bar and his sister ran the matchday refreshment hut.
