6' 2" keeper born in Brent, London who started his career with Luton and played 14 times for their youth team during the 1997/98 season. Scott kept nine clean sheets and featured in the South East Counties League Cup Final against West Ham.
In the summer of 1998 Luton gave Scott a YTS contract but in October 1998 the club decided to upgrade his deal to a three-year full-time contract as he reached the age of 17. He continued to be the Hatters' regular youth team keeper throughout the 1998/99 and 1999/00 campaigns and during the latter season Scott also made five reserve team appearances as well as being an unused substitute for the first team on 16 occasions.
He spent the majority of the 2000/01 campaign as Luton's third-choice but towards the end of the season Scott became second-choice and featured in nine reserve team matches.
On 3.5.01 he was on the subs bench as Luton's first team travelled to Brentford for a Division 2 match and after only two minutes Scott found himself making a surprise senior debut aged 19 when keeper Mark Ovendale was sent off. Scott's first task was to face the penalty conceded by Ovendale and remarkably he saved it. The game ended 2-2 and curiously Brentford's keeper was Ole Gottskalksson who would later take over from Scott as Margate's custodian. Future Margate player Gareth Graham also featured as a substitute for Brentford.
Scott stayed with Luton for the 2001/02 campaign but fell down the goalkeeping pecking order and in November 2001 he was loaned to Boreham Wood. Scott only played twice there before injury curtailed his loan and he returned to Kenilworth Road. He eventually played six reserve team games but at the end of the season Scott was released.
During the summer of 2002 he played in some friendlies for Gravesend & Northfleet but Scott ended up joining Chesham for the start of the 2002/03 campaign proper.
Before he'd played a competitive game for Chesham Scott was signed by Millwall on a non-contract basis and in October 2002 they loaned him to Dulwich.
Having returned to Millwall Scott was released before the end of 2002 and he made four appearances for Grays before rejoining Dulwich on a permanent basis in January 2003.
At the start of February 2003, shortly after he'd returned to Dulwich, Scott had a trial at Blackpool where he played for the reserves but he wasn't taken on by the club and saw out the remainder of the 2002/03 season with Dulwich. In total he made 25 Isthmian League appearances there in his two spells with the club.
In the summer of 2003 Scott had trials with both Gillingham and York but he ended up starting the 2003/04 campaign with Dulwich once again. In February 2004 he had a trial at Wycombe but after featuring in the reserves he returned to Dulwich and by the end of the season Scott had made 24 Isthmian League appearances for them.
After playing in some friendlies for Weymouth during the summer of 2004 Scott signed for Margate in August 2004 and made his debut on 14.8.04 in a 3-2 defeat against Bognor Regis in the Conference South. The match was played at Margate's adopted home in Ashford. The Isle of Thanet Gazette said Scott had a shaky night in his next outing - a 1-0 win at Carshalton on 16.8.04 - and wrote his "blushes were twice saved by his defenders making goal-line clearances".
On 24.8.04 Scott played his fourth consecutive game and had what the Gazette said was "another miserable night between the sticks" as Margate were thrashed 6-0 by Grays at Ashford. The paper said he "spilled" a cross for the second goal whilst Grays' fourth from future Welsh international Freddy Eastwood "seemed to run straight past" him. However the Gazette did add "Ward may have been at fault for several of the goals, but in truth he got little protection from his defence". It was Scott's last appearance and he was released after four outings. He was replaced in the Margate goal by Ole Gottskalksson.
After leaving Margate Scott joined Lewes and on 14.9.04 he was part of the side that beat visitors Margate 7-3. He'd made just three appearances before Crawley signed him in October 2004 but they immediately loaned Scott back to Lewes. He played regularly for them for the remainder of the 2004/05 season and on 7.12.04 he kept goal in a 1-1 draw with Margate at Ashford. The Isle of Thanet Gazette report said Scott was "in surprisingly good form" having "had a torrid spell" at Margate.
During the 2005/06 campaign Scott was understudy to former Margate keeper Phil Smith at Crawley but only made a handful of first team appearances for the Sussex club. In February 2006 he had a one week trial at Championship club Plymouth and played in the reserves before going back to Crawley.
Scott left Crawley at the end of 2005/06 and in the summer of 2006 he played in some friendlies for Gillingham where he'd been on trial three years earlier.
Scott ended up starting the 2006/07 season with London Colney of the Spartan South Midlands League and played for them throughout the campaign before retiring aged just 25.
In 2010 he was working as a tax consultant in the London area.
Scott's older brother Darren and younger sibling Elliott both enjoyed successful Football League careers as centre-backs and during the 2011/12 season Darren was with Championship club Millwall whilst Elliott was on the books of Premier League Norwich.
