Much-travelled 5' 8" tall player born in Heanor who played for Loscoe Youth Club as a youngster before signing for Coventry in February 1950.
During a four year stay at Highfield Road Ronnie made 29 first team appearances, scoring ten goals.
In May 1954 he was transferred to 1st Division Sheffield United and made over 50 senior appearances for the Blades before moving to Scunthorpe in February 1957.
Ronnie averaged almost a goal every other game at Scunthorpe and then joined Plymouth in September 1959.
In January 1960, just four months after his last move, Ronnie was signed by Middlesbrough and played regularly for them.
In October 1961 Gillingham paid a then club record £6,000 fee for Ronnie. He spent three seasons at Priestfield and scored 15 times in 71 first team appearances before joining Margate in the summer of 1964.
Ronnie made his debut in a 2-0 win over Bath at Hartsdown Park on 22.8.64 and went on to become a fixture in the Margate side during the 1964/65 season, making 59 appearances and scoring twice. He was a solid, consistent performer in midfield although he also filled in at right-back on occasions. Hard work was a big part of Ronnie's game and the local press referred to his "sledgehammer tackles" as well as likening him to "a super-charged steam-roller".
Ronnie made 14 further appearances at the start of the 1965/66 season but in December 1965 he was released by the club for what were described as "reasons of a disciplinary nature".
After leaving Margate he had a trial with Halifax and soon afterwards Ronnie became player-manager of Selby Town.
In 2010 Ronnie was living in Leeds and working locally as a caretaker at 'Football World' - a purpose built centre for 5-a-side football.
