Former Gillingham player with an accurate shot who joined Margate from Tooting & Mitcham in October 1961 and scored twice on his debut for the reserves on 28.10.61. Ron also made a single first team appearance, scoring in a 2-1 Kent Floodlight Cup win over Ramsgate at Hartsdown on 6.11.61. After playing a total of six reserve team games he left the club.
He later played for Cray and made a handful of appearances for them at the start of the 1963/64 season. Ron scored three goals before leaving the club.
His first name was listed as being 'Roy' during his brief spell with Cray and a former footballer called Roy Aldridge later ran a pub in the Crystal Palace area.
