Defender born in Hemel Hempstead who started his career with Boxmoor St.Johns before linking up Apsley in the summer of 1932.
In December 1934 Reg was signed as an amateur by 3rd Division (South) club Millwall but continued to play for Apsley too and early in 1935 he turned down a move to Tottenham as he was hoping to play for England's Amateur international side. In February 1935 Reg achieved that ambition and a month later he signed a professional contract with Millwall.
Reg went on to make 50 first team appearances for the Lions spanning the 1935/36 to 1946/47 seasons and played in the 1944/45 Football League South Cup Final at Wembley as Millwall lost to Chelsea.
In December 1946 he signed for Queens Park Rangers in a player exchange deal and on 1.11.47 Reg became the first player in Football League history to suffer two fractures in a match when he first broke his nose and then his right leg a few minutes later in a game against Bristol City. He eventually made 62 senior appearances for Rangers up the end of the 1949/50 campaign and then joined Watford for a fee of £200 in July 1950.
Reg became captain of Watford's reserves and made one first team appearance for the Hornets during 1950/51 - in a 5-1 defeat at Southend in Division 3 (South) on 19.8.50 - before signing for Dover in July 1951.
After captaining Dover during the 1951/52 campaign and the opening months of 1952/53 Reg joined Margate in November 1952.
He was signed as a replacement for injured right-back Jack Yeomanson and was immediately named as captain. Reg made his debut in the number two shirt as Margate beat Faversham 5-1 at Hartsdown Park on 15.11.52 and went on to make 25 appearances before the end of the 1952/53 season. He scored four times - all from the penalty spot.
With Jack Yeomanson fit again Reg only made one appearance at the start of the 1953/54 season before leaving Margate in December 1953 to join Hemel Hempstead as coach.
Hemel Hempstead were actually Reg's old club Apsley under a new name and he later had a spell as the club's manager that ended controversially in October 1955. Reg was dismissed after some financial irregularities were uncovered although he'd been acquitted of criminal charges relating to them.
Reg died in Cambridge on 23.2.94, shortly after his 79th birthday.
