He was released on a free transfer in the summer of 1986 having scored over 14 goals for Millwall's youth team during 1985/86.

Paul joined Dulwich Hamlet in the summer of 1986 before moving on to Fisher in February 1988. He scored once in two Conference starts for them before the end of 1987/88.

He linked up with Alma Swanley for the 1988/89 campaign before going back to Fisher in December 1989 where he scored in his first Conference appearance.

During the 1990/91 season Paul returned to Alma Swanley but he rejoined Fisher for a third spell in time for the start of the 1991/92 campaign. He scored 11 goals before signing for Dover in January 1992.

On 15.2.92 Paul bagged a hat-trick on his home debut for Dover as they beat Gloucester 4-0 and it was his first non-league treble. He scored seven goals for the club before the end of 1991/92.

He returned to the side in mid-April 1994 and on 24.4.94 Paul scored in a 6-0 demolition of Braintree at Hartsdown. On 2.5.94 he was controversially chosen to play in the Kent Senior Cup Final at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium instead of top scorer Joe Brayne and picked up a winners medal as Margate beat Dover 2-1. It was Paul's last game for the club as he went back to Sweden to rejoin Husqvarna a few days later having scored seven goals in 26 appearances (five as sub) for Margate.

He stayed in Sweden until the end of November 1994 when he returned home and linked up with Fisher for the fourth time. Paul then went back to Husqvarna in March 1995.

After returning to England once more in September 1995 Paul rejoined Fisher and scored in a 2-2 draw at Margate on 24.10.95. He left the club again in March 1996 for another stint in Sweden.

He spent four seasons with Motala before finally returning home in October 1999.

Paul scored four goals in 14 Isthmian League appearances (one as sub) for Leatherhead during the first half of the 1999/00 campaign and then linked up with his hometown club Dulwich early in 2000. He made four Isthmian League appearances (two as sub) without scoring for Dulwich before the end of 1999/00.

In the summer of 2000 Paul returned to Kent and made seven substitute appearances for Gravesend & Northfleet without scoring at the start of the 2000/01 season before moving on to Greenwich at the end of 2000.

His next move took him to Kent County League club Stansfeld Oxford & Bermondsey Club for the 2002/03 campaign and Paul was still playing for the club during 2003/04. He retired at the end of that season.

Paul worked as an interior decorator in the early 1990's.
