Chatham-born player who started his career as a trainee at Gillingham, joining the club for the 1990/91 campaign. Nicky became a regular in the Gills' youth team for the next couple of seasons and on 28.7.92 he was a substitute for a 0-0 draw at Margate. The match was a Kent Midweek League semi-final held over from the 1991/92 campaign.
He left Gillingham later in 1992/93 and had short spells with Gravesend & Northfleet and Dover before finishing the season at Sittingbourne.
In the summer of 1993 Nicky signed for Margate but after struggling to break into the first team in the opening weeks of the 1993/94 campaign he was loaned to Faversham in September 1993. Nicky stayed there until the end of March 1994. On 2.4.94 he finally made his first appearance for Margate when he came on as a substitute in a 2-0 win at Canterbury but Nicky then went back to Faversham for a few weeks. On 26.4.94 he scored twice for them in a 10-1 win over Margate's reserves at Hartsdown Park in the Kent Midweek League and Nicky was then recalled once more. He made his first start for Margate in a Southern League game at Buckingham on 30.4.94 and scored with a shot from the edge of the penalty area in a 2-0 win. Nicky didn't play again and he was released at the end of the season.
He joined Dartford in the summer of 1994 and then moved on to Herne Bay later in 1994/95.
Nicky returned to Faversham for 1995/96 before signing for Canterbury at the end of the campaign.
He spent two seasons with City and worked in printing during his time with the club.
In the summer of 1998 Nicky joined Maidstone and played regularly for them in the Kent County League before rejoining Sittingbourne in March 1999.
He spent the 1999/00 campaign with Sheppey and then went back to Sittingbourne again for 2000/01.
Nicky later spent several seasons with Bly Spartans in the Kent County League, featuring for them during the 2003/04, 2004/05 and 2005/06 campaigns.
He then moved on to Hollands and Blair, another Kent County League club, where he made 92 appearances and scored 13 goals.
Nicky's father Steve spent many years on the backroom staff at Sittingbourne during the 1990's and early 2000's, having spells as reserve team manager and first team assistant manager amongst other roles.
