Neville made his senior debut in a 6-0 defeat at Dorchester on 10.10.81, playing at right-back. He went on to make 24 appearances (two as sub) before the end of the campaign, all but one of them in the right-back position. The Thanet Times described him as "frequently catching the eye" during a 3-1 defeat at home to Welling on 28.12.81 and Neville won an award for being the best young player in the first team during the season although Thanet finished bottom of the Southern League Southern Division.
He stayed with United for the 1982/83 campaign and made 15 sporadic appearances (three as sub). Neville was in and out of the side all season and usually played in midfield, although initially he filled the right-back berth.
He made eight further appearances during the 1983/84 campaign, but all bar one of them was as a substitute. Neville's only start came in a 1-1 draw with Basingstoke at Hartsdown on 3.9.83 and his final appearance for Thanet was as a substitute in a 2-0 home defeat against Cambridge City on 7.1.84. He left the club in the summer of 1984.
Neville then joined Herne Bay for the 1984/85 campaign before linking up with Ramsgate in September 1985. He went on to spend several seasons in the Rams' first team, up to and including the 1988/89 campaign.
During 1990/91 Neville made the briefest of returns to Hartsdown Park, making one appearance for Margate's reserves. He also played for local amateur outfit Britannia during the season.
He played the last football of his career during the 1990's when he turned out for Thanet League club Margate Athletic Old Boys whose squad of veterans also included a host of other former Margate / Thanet players.
During the early 1990's Neville worked as a Civil Engineer and his nephew Kane was with Margate during the 2010's.
