Tenacious winger who began his career at Crystal Palace and scored eight times in 51 reserve team appearances for the Eagles spanning the 1961/62-1964/65 seasons before joining Dover in September 1964.
Mickey scored 15 goals for Dover before the end of 1964/65 and top scored with 23 goals the following season. During 1966/67 he scored 16 times and during September and October 1965 Mickey found the net in six consecutive matches. His tally included a hat-trick as Dover won 4-0 at Canterbury in a Kent Floodlight League tie on 15.11.66 and the goal that sealed a 1-0 win over Margate in the 2nd Leg of the Kent Senior Cup Final at Crabble on 6.4.67. Dover won 6-0 on aggregate.
The 1967/68 campaign saw Mickey score 13 goals and on 8.5.68 he was one of the marksmen as Dover beat Bexley 3-0 to win the Kent Senior Cup. He spent one more season at Dover, scoring once to take his overall goal tally for the club to 68, and then moved to Margate in the summer of 1969. Manager Almer Hall had initially tried to sign him when he'd left Crystal Palace.
Shortly after his arrival at Hartsdown Park Mickey suffered an elbow injury that kept him out of action for the first month of the 1969/70 season. He made his debut when he came on as a substitute in a 3-0 defeat at Barnet on 6.9.69 and his first full appearance came in a 2-2 draw with Chelmsford at Hartsdown Park on 13.9.69. Mickey found it difficult to gain a regular place in the first team but showed flashes of ability, particularly with his accurate crossing, when he did feature.
On 25.10.69 Mickey was the pick of the Margate attack in a 2-0 win over Kettering and he received a tremendous ovation from the Hartsdown Park crowd when he went off injured towards the end of the game. On 15.11.69 he was in the Margate side that were thrashed 7-2 by visitors Aldershot in the FA Cup 1st Round but Mickey only made nine appearances (two as sub) before leaving the club in December 1969. He scored twice and one of the goals was with his first touch after coming on as a substitute in a Kent Floodlight Cup tie against Sheppey at Hartsdown on 8.9.69.
Mickey joined Crawley after leaving Margate and scored 21 Southern League goals for them during the 1970/71 season.
He later had a lengthy spell with Hastings which spanned the 1972/73-1975/76 campaigns.
In the summer of 1976 Mickey joined Hillingdon and towards the end of the 1976/77 season he moved on to Wealdstone.
Mickey stayed at Wealdstone until March 1978 when he signed for Tonbridge.
He made over 20 appearances for the Angels during the 1978/79 season, often playing as a left-back.
