6' 1" tall keeper who was on West Ham's books from the age of ten and completed a scholarship with the club during the 2005/06 campaign. Matt featured in the Hammers' reserves during the first half of that season and vied with future Margate keepers Darren Behcet and David Blackmore for a place in the side.
In January 2006 Matt was loaned to League Two club Barnet for the remainder of the 2005/06 campaign and on 25.2.06 he made his Football League debut in a 2-1 home defeat against Carlisle. He then started the Bees next three matches before dropping to the subs bench for the rest of the season.
At the end of 2005/06 Matt was released by West Ham at the same time as Darren Behcet.
In July 2006 Matt was signed by League One outfit Bristol City and during the opening weeks of the 2006/07 campaign he was an unused substitute for some first team matches but he left the club at the start of September 2006.
Matt then dropped into non-league football and joined Isthmian League Division 1 South club Walton Casuals. He made 38 league appearances for them during the remainder of the 2006/07 season.
In the summer of 2007 Matt had a trial with Conference outfit Crawley but he ended up signing for Tonbridge ahead of the 2007/08 campaign proper and made 58 appearances for the Isthmian League Premier Division club during the season.
After trials with Dartford and Bognor Regis in the summer of 2008 Matt joined Sittingbourne of the Isthmian League Division 1 South in September 2008 and made 43 appearances in all competitions for them during 2008/09.
He started the 2009/10 campaign with Premier Division Carshalton and Matt featured in the Robins' first nine matches of the season before being released at the start of November 2009.
He then signed for Margate and on 7.11.09 Matt made his debut in a 2-1 defeat at Hastings in the Isthmian League Premier Division. In doing so he equaled an all-time club record by becoming Margate's sixth different keeper in six consecutive games. The Thanet Times said Matt "made an excellent save" as an attacker bore down on goal in the second half and also praised him for "a fingertip stop" from a close-range header.
Matt started 11 of the next 12 games and on 26.12.09 he saved a penalty from former Margate striker James Pinnock in a match against Maidstone at Ashford. Margate were 1-0 up at the time and Matt's save ensured the scoreline remained the same until the final whistle. He made his 12th and final appearance in a 2-0 defeat at Kingstonian on 31.1.10 and shortly afterwards Matt was injured whilst training with Barnet without Margate's permission. He was then released.
In February 2010 Matt joined Dartford as back-up for their first choice custodian Andrew Young but he didn't feature in the Darts first team during the remainder of 2009/10 as they won the Isthmian League Premier Division.
In the summer of 2010 Matt played in some friendlies for his old club Carshalton but he rejoined Sittingbourne in time for the start of the 2010/11 campaign.
He made 40 appearances (one as sub) for the Brickies in Division 1 South during the season before moving on to Metropolitan Police in July 2011.
Matt spent a few weeks with the Met but in September 2011 he returned to Sittingbourne once more. By the end of 2011/12 he'd made a career total of 113 appearances for the club.
In the summer of 2012 Matt moved on to Leatherhead of Division 1 South and he made 12 league appearances there during the 2012/13 campaign.
