Locally-born keeper who initially joined Margate in 2002 aged 11 and progressed through the club's youth sides. Matt also featured in the Thanet District team for several years.
During the 2005/06 season he played for Margate's Under-15's and Matt then featured in the Under-16's for some of the 2006/07 campaign before having spells with Football League clubs.
From November 2006 to February 2007 he played for Queens Park Rangers' Under-16's side and immediately after that Matt had a spell playing for Cardiff's Under-16's.
He was back at Margate for 2007/08 and Matt was a regular in the reserves before joining Millwall in February 2008.
He featured in the Lions' youth team until the end of the 2007/08 season and in the summer of 2008 Matt was signed by Conference club Ebbsfleet.
He played for the Fleet's Academy side during the 2008/09 and 2009/10 campaigns and Matt also appeared in Kent Senior Cup ties for the first team.
In the summer of 2010 he returned to Margate and at that time Matt was studying Sport & Exercise Science at Canterbury Christ Church University. On the eve of the 2010/11 season manager Iain O'Connell spoke about him to the Isle of Thanet Gazette and said "I don't know too much about him at the moment but I'm sure he'll be a capable understudy to JT (Jamie Turner)."
Matt became a regular in the reserves and on 12.10.10 he made a one-off appearance for the first team in a 5-2 defeat against Thamesmead in the Isthmian League Cup at Hartsdown Park. It was his only senior outing.
In August 2011 Matt left the club and signed for Isthmian League Division 1 South outfit Whitstable. He made his debut for the Oystermen in a 3-2 win at Walton Casuals on 20.8.11 and played four times in the league before signing for Ramsgate in September 2011, shortly after Whitstable had signed former Margate keeper Scott Chalmers-Stevens to replace him.
Matt didn't feature in Ramsgate's first team and at the start of November 2011 he rejoined Margate.
He played regularly for the reserves during the remainder of 2011/12 but at the end of the season Matt left Margate again.
In the summer of 2012 he featured in friendlies for Canterbury before joining their fellow Kent League club Deal for the 2012/13 campaign proper.
Matt was Deal's reserve team keeper throughout the season.
In the summer of 2013 he rejoined Whitstable.
