Bustling 6' 3" tall striker born in Birmingham who started his career with Isthmian League club Kingstonian where he made three substitute appearances without scoring early in the 1992/93 season before dropping into local football.
Mark's next senior club was Sutton and after making his first team debut early in the 1994/95 campaign he went on to score over 20 goals for the Isthmian League Premier Division outfit.
In May 1995 Premier League club West Ham paid Sutton £50,000 for Mark's services but although he showed promise in the Irons' reserves Mark spent much of the 1995/96 season out on loan.
On 4.9.95 he joined Division 3 (later League Two) club Leyton Orient for a month and on 9.9.95 Mark scored with a superb overhead kick with his very first touch after coming on as a substitute as the O's drew 1-1 at Plymouth. It was his only outing for Orient.
After briefly returning to Upton Park Mark was farmed out to Cambridge United in October 1995 and he made five first team appearances (three as sub) during two months with the Division 3 club, scoring once. His goal came in a 2-1 defeat at Doncaster on 30.10.95.
Mark's third loan spell of the campaign saw him join Division 2 (later League One) outfit Shrewsbury at the start of February 1996 but he only played once during a month with the club.
A few weeks after returning to West Ham Mark made his first team debut when he came on after 77 minutes of a 3-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League on 27.4.96. It was his only appearance for the Hammers.
In May 1996 Mark joined AFC Bournemouth as part of a transfer deal valued at £100,000 that saw Cherries striker Steve Jones move in the opposite direction and Mark made his debut for Bournemouth as a substitute in a 1-0 home defeat against Notts County in Division 2 on 21.9.96. After two more outings as a sub he made his first start as the Cherries took on Wycombe at Dean Court on 12.10.96 and Mark scored in the first half of a 2-1 win before being replaced by future Margate striker Manny Omoyinmi (who was on loan from West Ham) after 62 minutes.
For the next couple of months Mark featured regularly in Bournemouth's matchday squad, often as a substitute, and scored once more - the only goal of the game on Boxing Day 1996 as the Cherries beat visitors Bristol Rovers. He made his last appearance as a substitute in a 1-1 home draw with Rotherham on 11.1.97 but Mark then struggled with injuries and at the end of the 1996/97 season he was released having scored twice from 16 outings (ten as sub) for Bournemouth.
After a spell out of football Mark resurfaced in November 1997 when he signed for Conference club Welling and he scored a last minute goal on his debut as the Wings beat visitors Telford 4-1. Mark also found the net in a 3-0 win over Hereford at Park View Road on 20.12.97 and future Margate star Leon Braithwaite got one of Welling's other goals that day.
In March 1998 Mark rejoined Sutton and scored four goals from eight Isthmian League Premier Division outings (three as sub) before the end of the 1997/98 campaign. During 1998/99 he scored 32 goals in all competitions as Sutton won the Premier Division and Mark's goal tally was particularly impressive as he missed two months of the season through injury. He was Sutton's top Conference scorer with 11 goals during the 1999/00 campaign and in the summer of 2000 Mark joined Woking.
On 22.8.00 he scored as the Cards lost 3-2 at home to Yeovil in the Conference and Woking's other scorer was future Margate player Steve West. That was Mark's only goal and having made a total of 15 appearances (six as sub) for the Surrey club he was released.
In November 2000 Mark linked up with Isthmian League Premier Division outfit Chesham and scored 15 goals in all competitions for them during the remainder of the 2000/01 season.
In the summer of 2001 he signed for Aldershot and Mark helped them to third place in the Isthmian League Premier Division by scoring a total of 15 goals in all competitions during 2001/02.
He went back to Sutton - his third spell there - ahead of the 2002/03 campaign and Mark scored 13 Premier Division goals during the season. He also found the net five times in cup matches and Mark's last goal came in a 2-1 win over Kingstonian that clinched the Surrey Senior Cup for Sutton on 7.5.03. It was his 100th goal for the club and Mark then scored three times during the first few months of the 2003/04 campaign before joining Lewes in November 2003.
He got two goals from 11 Isthmian League Division 1 South outings (seven as sub) for the Sussex club before being released in March 2004.
Mark then linked up with Bromley for the remainder of the season and scored five goals from only seven Division 1 South appearances (one as sub). His tally included a hat-trick in a 4-0 win at Dulwich on 12.4.04.
After scoring four times in 21 Division 1 South outings (nine as sub) during the first half of the 2004/05 campaign Mark's Bromley contract was cancelled by mutual consent at the start of March 2005 and he then joined Metropolitan Police.
He scored once from 11 Division 1 South appearances (one as sub) for the Met during the remainder of the 2004/05 season.
Mark started 2005/06 with Premier Division outfit Worthing but only played six times in the league (twice as sub) and scored once before moving on to Kingstonian at the end of September 2005.
He only played four times in Division 1 South during his second spell with the K's and didn't score before returning to Sutton towards the end of 2005.
Mark's fourth stint with the U's, who were then in the Conference South, was a brief one and when he left Sutton early in 2006 his overall record for the club was 105 goals from 251 appearances.
After around eight months out of football Mark had a brief spell back at Worthing during the early part of the 2006/07 campaign and scored his only goal for them in a 2-1 win at East Thurrock in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 28.10.06. He left the club soon afterwards after making five league appearances (one as sub) and didn't play again anywhere during the remainder of the season.
In July 2007 Mark made a comeback when he joined Margate and he marked his first appearance by scoring with a last-minute header in a 3-0 friendly win over Erith & Belvedere at Welling on 28.7.07. Player-manager Robin Trott told the Isle of Thanet Extra newspaper "Watson is no spring chicken, he was going to retire but he got itchy feet. We invited him down and he has done no real training but he played on Saturday and looked a handful."
Mark also featured as Margate drew 1-1 in a friendly at Chatham on 31.7.07 and the Isle of Thanet said he was the player that "most caught the eye" and added that Mark looked "like he could be a handful with the right service". Robin Trott told the paper "Mark needs to lose a bit of weight but he did OK. I'm not saying we're going to give him anything but we are interested in him. He's a target man, a bit like Rob Haworth. There's room for another striker, we'll just have to see how it goes."
Mark didn't play in any of Margate's other friendly matches after picking up an arm injury but on the eve of the 2007/08 season Robin Trott spoke to the Isle of Thanet Gazette about him and described Mark as a "Big centre-forward who can also play at the back, which gives us options." Trott added "Has his arm in a cast at the moment and is out for three weeks."
By the start of September 2007 Mark had recovered from his injury and he was an unused substitute on two occasions early in the month. On 11.9.07 he scored for the reserves in a 3-2 win over Folkestone at Hartsdown Park and four days later - on 15.9.07 - later Mark finally made his first team debut. He came on as a substitute in an FA Cup tie at Chatham and scored as Margate won 3-0. He then played from the start in a 2-0 home defeat against Hendon in the Isthmian League Premier Division on 22.9.07 but Robin Trott told the Thanet Times that Mark wasn't really fit and shouldn't have been in the side.
After he'd made one more appearance as a substitute Mark wore the number ten shirt in a 3-2 home defeat against East Thurrock in the Isthmian League Cup on 2.10.07 and he then featured six times as a sub in Margate's next nine matches. Over a month after his last start Mark played up front in a 1-0 defeat against visitors Leamington in the FA Trophy on 6.11.07 and he kept his place as Margate took on Harrow at Hartsdown Park on 10.11.07. It was his last outing for the club and early in December 2007 Mark was released having scored once from 12 appearances, eight of them as a substitute. Robin Trott told the Isle of Thanet Gazette "There's no real reason for letting him go - it's just that he's not featured for a while and we need the money."
After almost two years out of football Mark resurfaced during the 2009/10 season when he played for Dorking Wanderers of the Sussex County League Division 3 and the club's player-coach at the time was Mark's former Margate team-mate Justin Skinner. Mark also played for Dorking for part of the 2010/11 campaign before retiring from football.
