Left-footed, ginger-haired defender who progressed from the reserve team and made his first team debut when he came on as a substitute during a 2-0 win over Fareham at Hartsdown Park on 14.3.81. Mark was just 18 at the time and by the end of the 1980/81 season he'd made nine further appearances. He started in all those games and usually played either at left-back or in midfield. The Thanet Times report for Margate's 3-1 home defeat against Dunstable on 28.3.81 said that Mark "displayed a coolness way beyond his years".

During the 1981/82 campaign Mark became Thanet United's first-choice left-back and he made 34 appearances in total, two of them as a substitute. The Thanet Times said that he was "a player of real promise". The paper was also impressed by Mark's display in a 2-0 defeat at Ashford on 6.3.82, saying that he gave "an outstanding performance with his sound positioning and efficient tackling" and Mark won the club's 'Most Improved Player' award for the season although Thanet finished bottom of the Southern League Southern Division.

He continued to be a first team regular during the 1982/83 campaign and made a further 36 appearances (two as sub). In December 1982 the Thanet Times again praised Mark, saying "he continues to improve". He spent most of the season playing as a centre-back but Mark also turned out at left-back and in midfield on occasions.

The 1983/84 season was Mark's fourth at Hartsdown Park but despite turning in some dominant performances he struggled to establish himself in the United side. He made 24 appearances, taking his overall tally past 100, but was never a first team regular. Mark generally played at left-back but also turned out at centre-back and in midfield during the campaign. He left the club at the end of the season and joined Herne Bay in the summer of 1984.

Mark then moved to Ramsgate for the 1985/86 campaign.

He worked as a clerk at Nat West bank in Broadstairs during his time at Hartsdown and by 2002 Mark was based in East Sussex. He was still living in Hastings in 2011.
