6' 2" tall defender born in Bromley who began his career with Charlton. Marcus signed associated schoolboy forms for the Addicks on 5.7.85 and then became a trainee on 6.7.87 immediately after leaving school. He played for the youth side before progressing to Charlton's reserves and in the summer of 1989 he was signed as a full-time professional. Although Marcus never made a league appearance for the Addicks he did appear in a Zenith Data Systems Cup tie during the 1989/90 season. It was a 2-1 win over Leicester at Selhurst Park on 14.11.89 and Marcus was replaced after 56 minutes.
Marcus was released by Charlton at the end of 1989/90 and joined Fisher in August 1990. At the end of January 1991 he moved to Margate, becoming new manager Tommy Taylor's first signing for the club.
Although he was essentially a central defender Marcus made his debut for Margate as a left-back in a 2-2 draw at Burnham on 2.2.91. The Thanet Times said he "gave good account of himself". He wore the number three shirt again during a 2-1 defeat against Dunstable at Hartsdown Park on 16.2.91 but then left the club.
Marcus later had a spell with Gravesend & Northfleet during 1991/92. They were struggling in the Southern League Premier Division and he had a baptism of fire as the Fleet lost 9-0 at Trowbridge and 8-1 at home to Halesowen in his first two games. Marcus made a total of 21 appearances (one as sub) without scoring for the Fleet before moving on.
He ended the 1991/92 season at Barking where he made 12 appearances (two as sub).
During the 1993/94 campaign Marcus played for Staines before moving on to Isthmian League Division 2 outfit Windsor & Eton in March 1994.
He stayed at Windsor & Eton for the start of the 1994/95 season but only made three appearances (one as sub), scoring once, before leaving the club.
Marcus was last heard of during the 1996/97 campaign when he played for Whyteleafe.
