5' 11" tall Margate-born defender who played in Margate's youth teams before joining Ramsgate.

Luke was the Rams' reserves 'Player of the Year' for the 2003/04 campaign and he later had a spell with Deal.

In the summer of 2006 he returned to Margate and Luke featured in four pre-season friendlies in July and August 2006. He played regularly for the reserves for most of the 2006/07 campaign and Luke also made a one-off appearance for the first team when he wore the number two shirt as a youthful Margate side lost 1-0 at VCD in the Kent Senior Cup on 8.11.06.

In March 2007 Luke joined Kent League club Faversham and told the Kentish Football website "It's a great opportunity to play first-team football and help Faversham Town in any way I can."

He later dropped into local amateur football and Luke played for Active FC before switching to Canterbury & District League side Lesters Elite during 2009/10.

He was still with Lesters when they changed their name to Broadstairs for the start of the 2010/11 season and joined the Kent County League. Luke also spent the 2011/12 campaign with them as well as turning out in Sunday League football.

Luke stayed with Broadstairs as they became Ramsgate U24 for the 2012/13 season.

At the start of June 2013 he was appointed as one of three joint managers of Kent County League newcomers East Kent College.

Tragically on 18.6.13 - his 28th birthday - Luke was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth and underwent major surgery which saw half his tongue removed and replaced with skin grafted from his wrist. After a six week chemotherapy and radio therapy treatment programme it was hoped the worst was behind him but unfortunately a CT scan showed secondary cancer in Luke's lungs. He was immediately put onto a very intense chemotherapy treatment which made him extremely ill and after further consultation with his specialist it was agreed that the treatment should stop so that Luke could enjoy a certain quality of life rather than endure further pain for what might have been just a few extra months.

In July 2014 a fund-raising website explained "Luke is not one to take this unbelievably sad news to heart and is now determined to live out his life in the best possible fashion. His friends and loved ones have shared the thought of hosting a benefit weekend which would raise money that could financially contribute to Luke completing his 'Bucket List'. Luke would not agree for this to happen unless he was able to contribute some of the proceedings to charity and he has aptly chosen Cancer Research UK and The Pilgrims Hospices. Luke's condition is rarely seen in a person of his age, gender and overall level of fitness so he is determined to assist the charities research in any way possible in the hope that one day this illness can be beaten for good."

Luke sadly died on 9.10.14 aged just 29.
