Croydon-born fast, tricky right winger who was a regular in Crystal Palace's youth team, playing alongside future Margate players Vic Pain and Bill Roffey, when he joined Margate on loan in March 1971.
Les made his debut in a 2-1 win over Telford at Hartsdown on 24.3.71 and went on to make nine appearances (one as sub) before the end of the 1970/71 campaign. He scored three times, including both goals in a 2-0 win at Worcester on 24.4.71.
At the end of the season Les returned to Crystal Palace but never made a first team appearance there.
