Dartford-born defender who began his career with Kent County League outfit Greenways before joining Northampton as a trainee. They loaned Lee to Gravesend & Northfleet during 1986/87 and he made three appearances there before returning to the Cobblers.
Lee made one first team appearance for Northampton, coming on as a substitute in a game at York during 1987/88, but he was released the following season due to injury problems.
In December 1989 Lee joined Margate having been out of senior football since leaving Northampton and he made his debut at right-back on 16.12.89 in a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Erith & Belvedere. He kept his place for Margate's next two games but then a knee injury kept Lee out of action for two months. He made his return on 3.3.90, playing in midfield in a 0-0 draw with Fareham at Hartsdown Park. Lee made a few more sporadic appearances before the end of the season as a right-back or centre-back and by the end of 1989/90 he'd played eight times, once as a substitute. He also made two appearances for the reserves.
After missing the opening two matches of the 1990/91 campaign Lee made his first appearance of the season when he played at right-back in a 2-2 draw with Burnham at Hartsdown on 25.8.90. He then started six of Margate's next seven games at right-back. After missing three games through injury Lee returned for an FA Cup tie at Peacehaven & Telscombe on 13.10.90. Margate lost 1-0 and it turned out to be his final appearance for the first team. Lee left the club early in November 1990 having made nine senior appearances (one as sub) without scoring as well as one appearance for the reserves.
After Lee's departure from Hartsdown Park he rejoined Gravesend and he was sent off for them in a game at Dartford in April 1991. He then had a short spell with Boreham Wood before going back to the Fleet once again. In August 1991 Lee was sent off during a 9-0 defeat at Trowbridge and he left Gravesend soon afterwards having made a total of 32 appearances there.
