Skilful midfielder born in Leicester who played for the Leicestershire Schoolboys team that won the English Schools Trophy before starting his senior career with 3rd Division South club Northampton, joining them in March 1952. Larry made 17 first team appearances for the Cobblers during the 1952/53 and 1953/54 seasons before moving on to Norwich, also in the 3rd Division South, in November 1954.

He made a handful of appearances for the Canaries and then joined Gillingham in October 1955.

Larry went on to make 68 senior appearances for the Gills during 1955/56 and 1956/57, scoring seven goals.

His next move took him to Torquay in September 1957 and Larry clocked up 181 first team appearances there and scored 22 goals between 1957/58 and 1961/62 before moving to Cheltenham in July 1962.

Larry made 77 appearances for Cheltenham during the 1962/63 and 1963/64 seasons, scoring 19 goals and helping the club to win promotion to the Southern League Premier Division. He was also chosen to represent the Southern League during his time there.

He then moved to Deal and became their player-manager in March 1964, replacing former Margate player Billy Jowett as Deal boss. However a financial crisis at Deal led to the club's entire squad, including Larry, being transfer listed towards the end of 1965 and as a result Margate signed him in December of that year.

Larry made his debut for Margate on 18.12.65 and played well in a 0-0 draw at King's Lynn, impressing with his accurate passing and hard working style. However three days later Larry suffered the indignity of scoring an own goal against the club he'd just left as Margate won 5-2 at Deal in a Kent Floodlight Cup game. He stayed with Margate for the remainder of the 1965/66 season but was only a bit-part player and made just seven appearances, some at left-back, before being released at the end of the campaign.

Two months into the 1966/67 season Larry had already added two more clubs to his footballing CV - Loughborough United and Bourne Town.

He went on to have spells with Newfoundpool WMC, Linwood Lane (as player-manager), Enderby Forest, GEC Leicester, Groby (as player-manager), Blaby BC and then ended his career at St.Andrews.

In May 2000, the Torquay-based Herald Express reported that Larry was employed as a club singer in Leicester and in 2011 he was living in a village called Enderby, just outside Leicester, and still performing at the age of 80.
