Grey-haired, tough-tackling, Gravesend-born player who started his career with Gravesend-based Imperial Paper Mills before joining Carlisle in August 1946. He made 17 first team appearances there before moving to Gravesend & Northfleet in the summer of 1947.

Ken made 51 appearances for the Fleet during the 1947/48 season, more than any other player, and scored three goals.

In September 1948 Ken joined Margate and made his debut in a 5-4 defeat at Sheppey in the FA Cup on 18.9.48. He became a fixture in the side during the 1948/49 campaign, making 33 appearances, and proved to be extremely versatile, playing in both full-back positions, at centre-back and even as a striker. One of his early performances was described as "brilliant" by the local press.

During the 1949/50 season Ken was virtually ever-present and made a total of 38 appearances, scoring twice. One of his goals was a 30 yard lob in a 5-1 Kent League win over Snowdown at Hartsdown on 24.8.49. In January 1950 Ken became club captain after Jimmy Hughes' departure and his hard work made him an ideal role model.

The 1950/51 season saw Ken make a further 38 appearances to take his tally for the club past 100 and he scored twice.

In May 1951 he joined Ashford as player-manager and went on to spend several seasons there.

He later had a second spell at Imperial Paper Mills.

Ken's distinctive grey hair was apparently the result of the trauma he suffered in a Japanese Prisoner of War camp during the Second World War.

He died in 1989 having lived and worked in Gravesend for much of his life.
