Thanet-born player who joined Margate in the summer of 1968 and played exclusively for the reserves during the 1968/69 season, although he was a non-playing substitute for a first team game at Canterbury City on 17.4.69.
John continued in the reserves during the 1969/70 campaign and he also made a one-off appearance for the senior side. He played in a 3-0 home defeat against Folkestone in the Kent Senior Shield on 13.4.70 and had the misfortune to score an own goal.
He continued playing for the reserves during the 1970/71 season.
John later played for Margate Athletic in the Thanet Premier Sunday League and he was still living locally in 1974.
