Dark-haired goal-poacher with a hard shot who was born in Blantyre, Scotland.

Jackie began his career with Scottish League club Third Lanark but then moved on to non-league outfit Burnbank Swifts.

In July 1954 he signed for Welsh club Barry Town and Jackie scored over 20 goals in his first season there. He went on to spend four years in Wales before signing for Dartford in the summer of 1958. After scoring 20 goals in 57 appearances for the Darts Jackie was transferred to Margate in December 1959.

He made his debut in a 4-0 win over Corby on 2.1.60 at Hartsdown and scored twice. Jackie continued to find the net regularly during the remainder of the 1959/60 season and in total he made 20 appearances, scoring 13 times. Jackie also caused the club to be fined around £5 when he turned out in a Kent Senior Shield game against Sittingbourne on 9.3.60. He'd already played for his previous club in the competition and was actually cup-tied. The highlight of Jackie's prolific spell with Margate was his hat-trick in a 5-2 home win over Gloucester on 23.1.60 but despite his goals he was released in the summer of 1960 and joined Dover for the 1960/61 season.

After two seasons at Crabble, during which he scored a total of nine goals, Jackie joined Yiewsley for the 1962/63 campaign.
