Hard-working 5' 8" tall player born in Norwich who served in the Royal Marines during World War II and played football for them before signing for Fulham.
Geoff spent the 1946/47 and 1947/48 seasons with the Cottagers and after he'd played in almost every position for the reserves during 1946/47 a piece in one of Fulham's programmes described him as being "perhaps the most versatile player on our books". The article continued "Geoff is rather perturbed by the saying that these versatile players usually finish up selling programmes or chocolates. He is a very popular member of our side and no matter which position he plays, he never lets the side down".
In the summer of 1948 Geoff left Fulham having never featured in the first team and joined Southern League side Chingford.
In January 1949 he moved on to Margate and made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Snowdown in the Kent League on 29.1.49. Geoff played as a striker and became a regular in the side during the second half of the 1948/49 campaign. He made a total of 16 appearances and scored six goals. Geoff's tally included a 30 yard effort in a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Ramsgate on 7.4.49 and both goals in a 2-2 draw at Maidstone on 15.4.49. Although signed as a striker Geoff also played at centre-back and in midfield before leaving the club at the end of the season.
He joined Lowestoft for the 1949/50 season and became a very popular player there during a lengthy spell with the club.
