Birmingham-born forward who started his career with Whitstable, joining the club in the summer of 1950. Eric made his debut for Whitstable in a Kent League game at Ramsgate on 11.11.50 and went on to make 31 appearances before the end of the 1950/51 season, scoring six goals. He also had a trial at Leyton Orient during the campaign. Eric made a further 21 appearances for Whitstable during the first half of 1951/52 and again scored six goals before moving to Margate in February 1952.
Eric played exclusively for Margate's reserves during the remainder of the 1951/52 campaign.
At the start of the 1952/53 season he enjoyed a short run in the first team, making his debut as Margate lost 4-1 at home to Gravesend & Northfleet in an FA Cup tie on 13.9.52. Eric kept his place for Margate's next game - a Kent Senior Shield tie against Dartford at Hartsdown on 18.9.52 - and scored in a 2-1 win. Two days later he played in a 1-0 defeat at Dover and then returned to the reserves having scored once in his three senior appearances. He left the club at the end of the season.
Eric then had spells with Erith & Belvedere and Snowdown Colliery Welfare before joining Gravesend & Northfleet for the 1954/55 campaign. He scored twice in 11 appearances for the Fleet during the season.
Eric moved on to Dartford for the 1955/56 campaign.
He then returned to Whitstable and scored seven goals in 54 appearances there during the 1956/57 and 1957/58 seasons before switching to Dover for the 1958/59 campaign.
Although he was principally a reserve team player Eric also scored three first team goals for Dover early in 1959.
