Energetic Dartford-born player who played for Clapton during the 1987/88 season before moving on to Thamesmead for the 1988/89 campaign.
In March 1989 David joined Thanet United at the same time as his Thamesmead team-mates Paul Domeney and Lee Hill. He made his debut when he came on as an early substitute during a 3-2 win over Chelmsford at Hartsdown Park on 11.3.89. United's player-manager Garry Aldous praised David's "endless running" and the Thanet Times described him as "promising". On 18.3.89 he made his first start for United in a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Gravesend & Northfleet. The Isle of Thanet Gazette said that David "took his chance of a first team outing in style" and he became a fixture in the side for the remainder of the 1988/89 season, usually playing as a striker but also appearing in midfield. He finished the campaign having made a total of 11 appearances (one as sub) and scored once - in a 1-1 draw with Witney at Hartsdown on 23.4.89.
David was one of only two 1988/89 players retained by new manager Trevor Ford for the 1989/90 campaign, the club's first after reverting back to the name of Margate. He played in seven of the season's first eight games at left-back and the Isle of Thanet Gazette said that he put in "a good performance" in a 1-0 home win over Corinthian on 12.9.89. The paper also said that David was "aggressive". It turned out to be his last appearance and he left the club soon afterwards.
David joined Bromley initially but then moved on to Darenth almost immediately. In December 1989 he linked up with Erith & Belvedere and stayed there until returning to Thamesmead for the 1991/92 season.
During the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons David was Erith & Belvedere's Under-18's coach and in May 2006 he became joint manager of the club's reserves.
