Local defender who joined Margate for the 1946/47 campaign and made his debut at left-back in a 3-1 defeat at Maidstone in an FA Cup tie on 21.9.46. Cyril went on to make a total of 15 appearances during the remainder of the 1946/47 season and scored once as Margate won the Kent League title. His goal came in a 3-0 win at Maidstone on 9.11.46 when he played as a makeshift right winger.
Cyril also played for the reserves during 1947/48 and during the 1948/49 campaign he made one further first team appearance in a 6-1 win over Maidstone at Hartsdown Park on 18.4.49.
He stayed with the club for the 1949/50 season and was a regular in the reserves once more early on. However in November 1949 he asked to be released and joined Ramsgate.
Cyril's initial stay at Southwood was brief and in February 1950 he moved on to Faversham.
He later returned to the Rams for a spell that included the 1951/52 season.
Cyril joined Herne Bay for the 1953/54 campaign and played in the club's first ever match at their Winch's Field ground on 26.8.53. By the end of the season he was mostly playing for Herne Bay's reserves and often captained the side.
He later played for Margate Athletic in the Kent Amateur League.
In the summer of 1969 Cyril became Herne Bay's manager but resigned at the end of the 1969/70 campaign.
He died on 8.11.90, shortly before his 68th birthday.
