5' 7" tall defender born in Lewisham who started his career as an apprentice with Gillingham in 1977. During the 1978/79 season Colin scored eight penalties for the Gills' Youth team. He went on to make one Football League appearance - in a game at Plymouth on 26.1.80 - before being released in the summer of 1980.

Colin joined Welling for the 1980/81 season and went on to make over 250 appearances for the Wings before moving on to Cray in June 1985.

In January 1990 he signed for Margate and made his debut on 20.1.90 in a 5-0 win over Erith & Belvedere at Hartsdown. From then on Colin was a fixture in the side, either at right-back or in midfield and he also played once at left-back. He made a total of 20 appearances during 1989/90 and scored three times, all from the penalty spot.

During the early months of the 1990/91 season Colin again showed his versatility by turning out in midfield, in both full-back positions and at sweeper. On 1.9.90 he scored the only goal of the game in an FA Cup tie at Ramsgate when his 25 yard drive dipped into the net. Colin barely featured during October 1990 but returned to the side in November 1990 and enjoyed a run in his favoured right-back role. He was dropped to the substitutes bench for an FA Trophy replay at VS Rugby on 5.12.90 and when Colin came on it was his last appearance for Margate. He was released later in December having scored twice in 19 appearances (one as sub) during 1990/91.

Colin joined Kent League outfit Alma Swanley immediately after his departure from Hartsdown Park and then moved on to Sheppey in July 1991. He went on to spend five and a half years with the Islanders before linking up with Herne Bay in January 1997.

Colin became Herne Bay's player-coach and continued in that role until the end of the 1997/98 campaign when he moved to Deal.

He was Deal's first team coach during 1998/99 and 1999/00, still playing when required, and although he didn't feature in the club's FA Vase triumph at Wembley in 2000 Colin did play a significant role. He came up with the idea of the Deal players and management all having a tattoo on their backsides to celebrate reaching Wembley and designed the small graphic that included the twin towers and the words "Vase 2000".
