Tall local player who progressed through Thanet United's youth ranks and became a regular member of the club's reserve team in the 1986/87 season. Chris also made a one-off appearance for the first team during the campaign, coming on as a substitute as Thanet beat Ramsgate 4-0 in the inaugural Isle of Thanet Gazette Cup match at Hartsdown Park on 13.4.87.
He stayed with Thanet for the 1987/88 season and featured in most of United's friendly matches, scoring in a 2-2 draw against a Gillingham X1 in July 1987. Chris went on to make 23 appearances in the reserves and also played once for the first team, making his full debut for United at right-back in the last game of the campaign - a 2-1 defeat at Waterlooville on 4.5.88.
Chris again featured in most of United's pre-season friendlies in the summer of 1988 and the Isle of Thanet Gazette praised his performance in a game against Gillingham saying he "turned in a spirited display at right-back and looks a good successor to David Gear". However Chris didn't appear in the first team until 5.11.88 when he came on as a substitute as Thanet lost 2-1 to Trowbridge at Hartsdown. After making three more sporadic substitute appearances Chris finally started a game on 1.4.89, playing at centre-back as Thanet were thrashed 8-1 at Hounslow. He then returned to the reserves for the rest of the season and won their 'Player of the Year' award after making 29 appearances and scoring four goals.
Chris joined Ramsgate for the start of the 1989/90 campaign and in October 1989 he was signed by Ashford. He then moved on to Herne Bay in September 1990 and made over 100 appearances there before returning to Ramsgate in the summer of 1993.
Chris went on to spend almost five years with the Rams before dropping into local amateur football at the end of the 1997/98 season.
During the 2004/05 campaign Chris was chosen as 'Player of the Year' for Division 1 of the Thanet Premier Sunday League. He captained St.Luke's in the Thanet Sunday League during 2006/07 and by the 2009/10 season Chris was playing locally for Camden FC. He was a keen golfer and about to embark on a spell as captain of the St.Augustine's club just outside Ramsgate.
He was widely known as 'Rambo' at Thanet United.
