Energetic 5' 9" tall England Youth international born in West Ham who played for junior sides Ruckholt Road, Chase of Chertsey and Leyton Boys, winning London Minor Cup and Surrey Minor Cup medals, before being spotted by Leyton Orient.
Brian joined the O's juniors for the 1952/53 season and scored with a 25 yard effort in an FA Youth Cup win at Arsenal in November 1954. He progressed through Orient's ranks and turned professional in 1955. Brian scored twice on his reserve debut against Aldershot at Brisbane Road on 23.9.54 and on 31.10.55 he played for the first team in a Southern Floodlit Cup tie at Queens Park Rangers. Brian went on to make over 150 reserve team appearances for the O's and played a total of ten first team games, none in the Football League. In December 1958 he was released after five years at Brisbane Road and joined Ramsgate.
After a season with the Rams Brian moved to Margate and made his debut in a Southern League game against Kettering at Hartsdown Park on 27.8.60. He made an instant impact by scoring twice in a 3-3 draw. Brian became a regular in the side during 1960/61 and made 34 appearances, scoring seven times. He impressed with his work-rate and shrewd passing but at the end of the season he was released.
Brian joined Canterbury for the 1961/62 campaign but only made four Southern League appearances and scored once before moving on.
He later played for Woodford and was with them during the 1963/64, 1964/65 and 1965/66 seasons. Brian also acted as the club's joint manager.
During his time at Margate Brian was assistant manager at a Leyton glass firm and trained with his old club Orient. His hobbies were model-making and gardening.
