Bob made his senior debut in a 7-4 win at Ashford in the Kent Floodlight Cup on 24.3.66 but he wasn't amongst the Margate scorers. He retained his place for the Southern League trip to Cambridge United two days later - a match the home side won 4-0. He finished his career with a spell at Herne Bay that included the 1976/77 season and Bob was player-manager of the club's reserves during the 1977/78 campaign. He stayed with Herne Bay as a player only for the 1978/79 season, captaining the reserve team.
His younger brother Trevor was also at Snowdown during Bob's time there and Trevor later had a spell with Arsenal before playing in the Football League for Aldershot.
