Ashford-born defender who could play in either of the full-back positions. Arthur was principally a reserve team player, first featuring for them during the 1949/50 season aged 17, but also made several appearances in Margate's senior side.
Arthur made his first team debut at left-back on 4.11.50 in a 2-0 defeat at Chatham and played twice more during the remainder of the 1950/51 campaign.
He stayed with the club for the 1951/52 season and in September 1951 Arthur was stung by a wasp whilst playing for the reserves in a game against Luton at their ground in Chatham. He was rushed to a local chemist for a mouth rinse. He made four first team appearances during the campaign, filling in for Terry Joyce at left-back.
During 1952/53 Arthur made a single first team appearance.
National Service limited Arthur's appearances during the 1953/54 season but he did play once for the first team during the campaign and also featured in a few reserve team games.
During 1954/55 he played exclusively for the reserves and was watched by WBA scouts. Nothing came of the Baggies' interest though and Arthur stayed at Hartsdown for the start of the 1955/56 season. He made two first team appearances during the early part of the campaign but was once again a reserve team player first and foremost.
In December 1955 he left the club due to work commitments and joined Ashford - Arthur's hometown club. He went on to play for the Nuts & Bolts for almost eight years before joining Snowdown in the summer of 1963.
Arthur was still playing for Snowdown during 1964/65.
